The COBIS Student World Debate Competition brings students from COBIS Schools across the globe together for an exciting three day event. The programme includes two days of debate competitions, a fun cultural tour of Malaga, plus plenty of opportunities for COBIS student networking. 

Schools can bring teams of 4-6 students. This competition is recommended for students in Years 11-13, aged 16 and over.

Dates and Location
The COBIS Student World Debate Competition will take place from 5-8 February 2020 in Marbella, Spain. The competition will be hosted by The English International College.

A Message from the Host School

Programme
The programme will include two days of heated debates, plus a cultural excursion day on the Thursday. On Friday there will be four debates; two prepared, one impromptu and one impromptu showcase debate. On Saturday, the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will take place for both the Plate and Cup competitions.

Costs

  • Registration fee: £295 per school 
  • Participant fee: €595 per person

These costs include:

  • Three nights' accommodation from Wednesday to Saturday (plus the option to stay on Saturday night, courtesy of EIC)
  • Formal welcome dinner on Thursday evening
  • Debating Friday/Saturday
  • Lunches and refreshments on Friday and Saturday 
  • Dinner and entertainment on Friday evening
  • Airport transfers
  • Transfers between the hotel and school
  • Cultural Tour of Malaga on Thursday
  • Merchandise pack

Lottery Draw
There are 16 places available at the COBIS Student World Debate Competition 2020. Some places are pre-allocated to previous hosts/winners. The remaining 12 places will be allocated by a lottery draw.
