On Saturday 23 February 2019, Doha College held their sixth annual Medical Review Schools Conference at their Al Waab campus in Doha, Qatar. For this event, Doha College once again partnered with COBIS to extend invites to British schools across the world.

The Medical Review Conference brought together aspiring medical students and industry experts to present on some of the key medicinal challenges of the 21st century. This event allowed students who are thinking of following medicine to enhance their skills and boost their university applications.

For this one-day conference, schools were invited to enter teams from Years 11, 12 and 13 to research recent developments in medicine and deliver a short presentation about it.

This year, Doha College had 38 teams from nine participating schools who researched six set topics: hereditary and metabolic diseases; cancer; technology in medicine; radiological, pathological and diagnostic updates and epidemiology of infectious diseases.

The morning session saw teams split into six break-out rooms, where teacher judges ranked each team’s presentation. The four teams with the highest scores then went forward to the afternoon session, where they presented to an expert judging panel. The final judging panel comprised doctors and health professionals from Elite Medical Center and Hamad Medical Corporation, who assessed and challenged the finalists.

Well done to Doha College for another successful conference. We hope all teams enjoyed taking part!
