Student Leadership Weekend 2024

Day 1: Level 3 Award in Principles of Management and Leadership

This is a a one-day workshop delivered by Karen Ardley Associates and accredited by the Royal Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This is an innovative and unique professional qualification, designed specifically for sixth form students, to develop their knowledge and understanding of the principles of management and leadership whilst also providing the opportunity to achieve an internationally recognised management and leadership qualification. Day 2: Leadership Workshops

Workshops will include:
- Intro to Coaching
- "Making a stamp"
- Sharing ideas and initiatives amongst schools
- How to manage a team

In the evening, students will be transported to the Old Town where they will have free time to explore and socialise.​​​​​​Day 3: Public Speaking

Students will begin the day by participating in a public speaking workshop. Ten students will then have the opportunity to deliver a speech on a chosen theme (TBC). The event will be live streamed via the BSB YouTube channel for the delegates' schools to watch.

The programme will finish at 1:30pm to allow time for students to travel home.

Please note, participants will be supervised by colleagues from the British School of Bucharest during the workshops, however they will be unsupervised in the evening.

It is expected that students will be chaperoned to and from Bucharest. The following opportunities will be available for accompanying staff:

• A Level 3 Mental Health First Aid training will be available for accompanying staff. The course will run on 16-17 November at no extra cost. Spaces are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. A maximum of two members of staff per school can register. Please indicate in the registration form if you would like to register.
   
• The British School of Bucharest will be hosting a STEAM Conference on 15-16 November. Accompanying staff are invited to register for the conference here.
   
• On the Friday evening, a dinner will be arranged for accompanying staff (maximum of two per school).

This event fee is £530 per student.

This includes:

• All conference/course fees
• Lunch on each day
• Dinner on one evening
• Bus to and from the Old Town one evening
• Lunch each day & one dinner for accompanying staff
• L3 Mental Health First Aid course for accompanying staff (limited availability)

Each school can register up to 4 students for the weekend.

There are a limited number of places available and these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. When places have been filled, additional registrations will be added to a waiting list.

Schools must not make any arrangements to travel to or stay in Bucharest until their place has been formally confirmed by COBIS and the host school. Once the event has been confirmed, a recommended hotel will be shared that is within walking distance from the school.

COBIS and the Host School reserve the right to cancel this event if insufficient bookings are received, or if travel to the host country becomes inadvisable.
