Virtual Music Competition

Our Virtual Music Competition, hosted by Hartland International School, will celebrate the talent of young musicians from COBIS schools around the world.

The competition will showcase talent across a range of solo and ensemble categories, and will culminate in a Grand Final to select the Young Musician of the Year and the Young Composer of the Year.

The competition is open to all COBIS schools, including Applicant schools. Students of the following age / grade level are eligible to enter.

High School: Year 10-13 grade expectation of grade 7 and above (ABRSM or equivalent)

Middle School: Year 7-9 
– grade expectation of grade 5 and above (ABRSM or equivalent)

Students will enter their chosen categories with a video (both audio and visual) of their performance. It is recommended that videos are between 3 to 4 minutes, and no longer than 5 minutes. Where possible, schools should take responsibility of the recording of videos. All entries should be new videos. recorded specifically for this competition.

11 January - 11 February:

Registration window
 

 

1 March - 1 April: Submission window
 
W/C 18 April:

Round 1 winners announced
3 winners per solo and ensemble category for Young Musician of the Year.

 

W/C 25 April:

Round 2 winners announced.
1 winner per solo and ensemble category for Young Musician of the Year. 
Winners given the opportunity to resubmit their entry for the Grand Final.
 

Early May (TBC)

Grand Final
Young Musician of the Year and Young Composer of the Year will be announced.


Cost

£35 per student (each student can enter up to 3 solo categories including composition)

£35 per ensemble (each school can submit a maximum of 3 ensemble entries)
