COBIS Games

We are excited to announce the return of the COBIS Primary Games, hosted by Braeburn Mombasa International School, Kenya from 24-27 March 2024.

COBIS Primary Games

The Primary Games is an exciting opportunity for COBIS students to compete in a variety of sporting disciplines, meet their peers from around the world, and broaden their cultural experiences.

Students will have the opportunity to compete in swimming, athletics and football in a bid to accrue the most points and take home the Championship trophy. The Games is open to all COBIS member schools. 

Who can take part?

Participating students should be in Years 5 and 6 and born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2014. Students outside of this age-group will not be allowed to participate.

There are 12 school team places available at the Games. The full list of participating schools will be uploaded to the COBIS website once finalised.

A school team consists of the participating students and accompanying school staff. Each team should be made up of 14 students (7 boys and 7 girls), plus two accompanying members of staff. Each student will be expected to take part in all three of the sports - football, athletics and swimming. 

Costs

The cost for entering the Games will be $6034 USD.  This fee covers a team of 16 persons (14 students and 2 accompanying staff). Schools can bring one additional member of staff for $350 USD.

The team fee includes:

• Local transport (between Mombasa airport, accommodation, school and sports venues) 
• Catering - lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday; dinner on Sunday and Wednesday
• Opening and Closing Ceremonies
• Trophies/medals
• Hire of sport and event facilities
• Sports management and officials
• Official programmes/marketing materials
• Essential costs required to support the COBIS Games and associated activities
• The COBIS fee per school

This cost excludes accommodation, travel to/from the host city, and any visas required. Invitation letters in support of visa applications are available on request.

Travel and Accommodation

Participating schools should not book travel to/from Mombasa or accommodation until the delivery of the Games has been formally confirmed.

The hotel recommended by the host school is the Voyager Beach Resort, Mombasa. Once the Games has been confirmed, schools should book accommodation at this hotel. Transport will be arranged to and from this hotel to the Games venues, and the welcome dinner and closing ceremony will take place at this hotel.

The hotel has given the following rates:

• Kshs. 12,210 per accompanying teacher/parent per night in a single Garden View Room
• Kshs. 8,140 per accompanying teacher/parent per night sharing in a double Garden View Room
• Kshs. 7,400 per student per night sharing in a Garden View Triple Room or Twin Room.

The above rates are on Half Board Accommodation and do not include drinks.

Registration

Registration is has now closed. Schools may withdraw before midday (GMT) on 14 December 2023. Should a school withdraw after this date the $3000 USD deposit will still be due.
