Art Competition

Together with Dryad Education, we are inviting students to produce a piece of art based on the theme, 'Magical Moments'.

Our Art Competition is a brilliant opportunity for young artists to compete internationally and showcase their talent. The competition is open to all COBIS schools, including Applicant schools.

Judging Criteria

The competition entries will be judged by a panel of teachers and art professionals according to the following criteria:

  • Imagination and originality
  • Overall impact of the finished piece
  • Technical challenges and use of material
  • Sticking to the brief: ‘Magical Moments’

The highest scored entries in each category will be submitted to our guest judge, Adele Darlington, who will make the final selection.

Adele Darlington has over 20 years of experience as a primary school teacher in the UK and is now a popular author and art consultant helping schools, trusts, teacher training providers and education partnerships devise and deliver high quality art and design experiences in their settings. As well as working in schools, Adele delivers keynote speeches, workshops and seminars at education conferences, sharing her passion for art in the primary school.  During lockdown, Adele helped 100s of schools, teachers and children through the creation of her ‘outdoor art boards’ which were shared freely on her social media pages. The boards gave suggestions for art activities to carry out for home learning and are still widely used today. To date, they have been downloaded over 29,000 times!  As well as writing the book 100 ideas for Primary Teachers: Art published by Bloomsbury, Adele is a regular contributor to Teach Primary magazine and is working on her second book title Primary Art in Action.

How to enter

Submissions will open on Thursday 17 October and close at 23:59 (GMT) on Wednesday 6 November 2024.

Each school will be able to submit up to one entry per category. Many schools choose to run an internal competition to select these entries.

The categories are:

  • Early Years and Foundation Stage + Key Stage 1
  • Key Stage 2
  • Key Stage 3
  • Key Stage 4
  • Key Stage 5

Entries should be created by an individual student, not a group of students.

Entries must be submitted by school staff on behalf of their students.

All entries will be submitted, processed and judged via the Zealous platform. Please read Zealous’ Privacy Policy before entering the competition for more information on how Zealous will process your data, this includes how you can delete your personal data at any time by deleting your account.

You will be required to set up an account with Zealous to submit your entries. This is a quick and easy process. Further instructions about how to submit your entries will be available on Thursday 17 October 2024.

Winners and Prizes

A certificate and prize will be  awarded to the winner and runner-up of each category.
