The motion in the final was "This House should go vegetarian!". The British School in The Netherlands edged the British School of Bucharest to win the event. Dubai College came third while the second team from The British School in The Netherlands won the Plate competition.

The COBIS Student World Debate Competition 2014 was hosted by The British School in The Netherlands. Special thanks go to Mr Ron Elliott, Head of English and Drama, and his team for organising such a memorable and highly successful interschool student event.

As well as competing in the event, COBIS students had the chance to get to know each other thanks to a social programme coordinated by the BSN. The event has encouraged global friendships with many students returning again this year after last year's inaugural event hosted by the Prague British School.

COBIS CEO, Colin Bell, said: "Congratulations to all students who participated in the 2014 COBIS World Debate Competition. The quality and high standard of debating was excellent. A true showcase of team work, respect, good humour and intellectual agility. Sincere thanks to the competition hosts and worthy winners, The British School in The Netherlands, who retain the trophy for a second year – you have every reason to be extremely proud!"
