TEDx BSA Youth

The event will take place on Friday 13 February 2026 at The British School of Amsterdam, Havenstraat 6, 1075 PR, Amsterdam, and is only open to COBIS Member Schools.

Please register using this form. Registration will close on 5 December 2025.

Please do not book any travel or accommodation until the event has been confirmed. COBIS will make this announcement as soon as possible after the 5 December 2025 registration deadline, or as soon as the external speaker cap is reached (whichever happens sooner).

Schools must take out the appropriate insurance policies in order to attend the event; the policy should include travel, medical and cancellation insurance as well as anything else as required by your school or region.  

There will be space for 12 external speakers, alongside 3 BSA speakers and 2 guest speakers. As places are limited, they will be allocated on a first come first served basis. When places have been filled, additional registrations will be added to a waiting list.

Your challenge is to present a unique idea, in addressing the theme and rationale. It may help to consider these two questions:

1. What present system, belief, or technology must we rethink right now to secure a better future?
2. What future voice—an untapped idea, ignored perspective, or emerging trend—needs to be heard now?

Speaking Time Limits

To maintain the rapid, high-impact format of a TEDx event, adherence to strict time limits is mandatory. Student speakers have a maximum of 8 minutes to construct their talk.

The Idea Worth Spreading

TEDx talks are not promotional lectures or workshops. They are about sharing a single, well-developed idea. Your commitment is to:

1. Focus on One Core Idea: What is the single most important takeaway you want the audience to remember?
2. Tell a Story: Use personal anecdotes or compelling narrative to make your idea relatable and memorable.
3. Avoid Excessive Jargon: Make your idea accessible to a general audience.

This event fee is £200 per student and includes 1 free teacher place per 3 students attending, as well as catering during the event.

Please note, travel to/from Amsterdam, and accommodation within Amsterdam is not included in this fee.

The school benefits from excellent connections to Amsterdam's public transport network. It is highly recommended to use trams or buses to arrive on the event day. We recommend securing accommodation close to the venue for easy access as the day begins at 9:00am. The Olympic Hotel is located nearby and is a highly recommended option. We have a booking link available for speakers that offers a discounted rate. Please take into consideration that rooms are not held and booking is still subject to availability.
