TEDx Start Rite Schools, Abuja

The event will take place on Thursday 12 March 2026 at Start Rite Schools, Abuja, Nigeria. It is open to all COBIS Member Schools.

There will be space for a maximum of 20 speakers from between 3 and 5 different schools. As places are limited, they will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Your presentation should:

• Present a clear, original idea or performance concept.
• Be factual, credible, and evidence-based (for talks).
• Inspire reflection, curiosity, or positive change.
• Be respectful, inclusive, and free of offensive language or imagery.
• Acknowledge all sources and collaborators.

Speaking Time Limits

To maintain the rapid, high-impact format of a TEDx event, adherence to strict time limits is mandatory. Each presentation must not exceed seven (7) minutes. Speakers are encouraged to rehearse extensively to stay within time. Exceeding the allotted time may result in editing cuts or exclusion from the final TEDx upload.

Please do not book any travel or accommodation until the event has been confirmed. COBIS will make this announcement as soon as possible after the registration deadline, or as soon as the external speaker cap is reached (whichever happens sooner).

There are a limited number of places, and these will be allocated on a first-come-first served basis. When places have been filled, additional registrations will be added to a waiting list.

Speakers may be requested to arrive a day before the event for technical rehearsals, stage blocking, and mic tests. All slides, music, or multimedia materials must be submitted at  Friday, 27 February 2026. Speakers should be ready to adapt presentations based on curatorial or technical feedback.

On the Friday after the event, Start Rite Schools, Abuja is excited to offer an optional day of fun and relaxation, including:

• Arcade Games

The cost for this package is ₦70,000 (Nigerian Naira) - approximately £37 per person based upon the exchange rate at the time of publication .

 Participation is completely optional, and schools can decide whether to join.

Student Code of Conduct

The cost per student is £30, and 1 member of staff per 5 students may attend for free. Any additional members of staff will be required to pay £30. 

The student fee covers participation and catering during the event. Please note, travel to/from Abuja, and accommodation within Abuja is not included.
