Supporting Cultural Competence within Inclusion and Safeguarding in International Schools
International schools operate within complex cultural, social, and political environments, catering to diverse student populations.
This webinar will explore how the safeguarding frameworks in these schools are based on Eurocentric models, which may not effectively account for the unique cultural and operational contexts of these regions. This misalignment has significant implications for safeguarding practices, particularly for students of colour who may face systemic inequities, cultural insensitivity, and exclusion.
Furthermore, a lack of diversity among educators and safeguarding leaders exacerbates these challenges, leaving critical gaps in understanding and addressing the nuanced needs of marginalised groups.
This webinar is hosted by Esther Mustamu-Daniels (British School Muscat) and Priya Mitchell (PMC Safeguarding), members of the COBIS DEIJB Working Group.
