Between Cultures: Navigating Identity and Leadership in British International Schools

This webinar will examine the notion of “Britishness” and ways it represents hybrid spaces in international schools, with an emphasis on British International schools as spaces where local and British values interact, creating both tensions and opportunities for innovation.

With an explicit focus on identity, belonging and leadership it will consider how schools negotiate and communicate values that are often seen as universal, yet require adaptation in localised cultural contexts. It will consider explicit frameworks for dialogue and leadership between cultures as a means of ensuring models are adapted which promote the school community on a local and global level.

By highlighting the intersections of culture, leadership, and community, the webinar will provide insight into how British international schools can serve as dynamic spaces for rethinking what “international” education means in practice.

This webinar was delivered by Simon Probert, from Wycombe Abbey School, Hangzhou.
