Register with COBIS to Access the DBS
COBIS and its members worldwide are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. For schools overseas who don’t have the assistance of a local authority, ensuring you are following safer recruitment best practice can be more challenging than in the UK.
Teachers are required to undergo DBS checks in order to ensure they are suitable to work with children. To support your school's safer recruitment practice, COBIS have partnered with uCheck to provide an easy and efficient online way for our Member Schools to obtain DBS checks for their staff.
This service is available to all schools.
- Prohibition Order Checks
- Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment
- International Criminal Background Checks
Our colleagues at the Council of International Schools have put together a helpful briefing document that covers the appropriate checks to request from a prospective employee's current and previous countries of employment and residence. The document is the result of extensive research into governmental, law enforcement and embassy websites, and COBIS is grateful to CIS for compiling this invaluable resource. This guidance is another excellent example of the commitment of both organisations and others which constitute the International Child Protection Task Force.
