We are honoured to announce that Damian Hinds has accepted our invitation to be an Honorary Vice-President of COBIS.
As a recent Secretary of State for Education, and married to a teacher, Damian Hinds brings enormous experience and understanding of the educational world, and a strong interest in the growth and success of British schools overseas.
He earned a 1st class degree at Trinity College Oxford, and before entering parliament worked for 18 years in the hotel industry including periods overseas in Belgium and the USA. Since his election as Member of Parliament for East Hampshire in 2010, he has also been Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury and Employment Minister at the Department for Work and Pensions.
Lord Jim Knight, COBIS Honorary President said, “I am delighted that Damian has agreed to come on board with COBIS in this honorary role. Damian has been a consistent and important champion for education over many years and we look forward to working with him now as we support the great work British international schools do around the world”.
Damian Hinds joins a distinguished group of Honorary Vice-Presidents of wide experience in education, government and educational technology, including Dr. Andreas Schleicher, Lord Adonis, Lord Lexden and Priya Lakhani OBE, as well as Lord Knight (himself a former Education Minister). We welcome him warmly and look forward to the wisdom, advice and support that he undoubtedly brings to our continued growth and success.
