We Are COBIS News Hub - June 2026

Welcome from the CEO

June Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to We Are COBIS, the new name for our half-termly newsletter, chosen to reflect the strength of COBIS member schools, educators, students and Supporting Associates - in essence, our connected global community. We are one network enriched by a diversity of voices, experiences, and perspectives from around the world.

As another academic year draws to a close for the majority of our member schools, on behalf of the COBIS Executive Team and Board, I would like to thank all our 425 Member, Provisional and Applicant schools as well as our Supporting Associates for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to delivering outstanding education for 285,000 students worldwide. This year has brought both opportunities and challenges, and I am particularly proud of the way our community has come together to support one another. This has been especially evident in our support for schools across the Middle East, and I was pleased to see the strong backing of British international schools reflected in the recent letter from the UK Government’s International Education Champion, Prof. Sir Steve Smith.

This edition of the newsletter highlights several important developments across the COBIS community. We reflect on the success of the 44th COBIS Annual Conference, including a student blog from one of our panel participants, and celebrate the launch of the inaugural COBIS Student Council, whose members share their perspectives throughout this issue. These initiatives demonstrate the value we place on student voice and the strength of engagement across our global network.

Looking ahead, to generate even better value for money for established and prospective school members, we are excited to launch MemberConnect in September, creating new opportunities for schools to access professional development and networking. We also have a full programme of student and CPD events planned for the year ahead. Before then, I hope everyone has the chance to enjoy a well-deserved summer break, and I look forward to welcoming you back for another successful academic year with COBIS. Plus, for all our valued colleagues that follow a different academic year, please remember that myself and the COBIS team are on hand to help and support throughout the UK summer months. You’ll always be able to reach us and we’ll always respond.

Best wishes.
