In an announcement published in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on 15 August 2025, the Ministry of Education designated COBIS, alongside the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), as an approved body to support quality assurance in international schools. This recognition aligns with the Ministry’s guidelines for determining educational standards of international schools and underlines the rigour and credibility of the COBIS Accreditation and Compliance scheme.

COBIS CEO, Colin Bell, said:
“We are honoured that the Thai Ministry of Education has formally recognised COBIS Accreditation and Compliance. This endorsement affirms the strength and international standing of the COBIS quality assurance framework, and we look forward to supporting schools across Thailand as they continue to provide world-class education for their students.”

COBIS Chair, Lord Jim Knight, said:

“This recognition from the Thai Ministry of Education is a significant milestone for COBIS and for the schools we serve. It highlights the confidence that governments place in our rigorous accreditation and compliance framework, and it demonstrates the value of our work in supporting high standards in international education. We are proud to stand alongside Thai colleagues and school leaders in fostering environments where young people can thrive and succeed.”

Bruce Grindlay, Principal of Rugby School Thailand, a COBIS Accredited Member, said:

“We at Rugby School Thailand are delighted that COBIS has finally been recognised by ONESQA as one of the official overseas accreditation partners in Thailand. Since we first started working with COBIS back in 2020, we have enjoyed the partnership and mutually supportive approach. We welcome them, officially, to Thailand and look forward to working with COBIS closely in the future."

Christopher Nicholls, Master of Wellington College International School, Bangkok, a COBIS Member School, said:

“I’m delighted that COBIS is now one of a select number of official school accrediting bodies in Thailand.  It’s excellent news for the many British schools here: COBIS is a fantastic support, an unmatched resource – and now the accreditor of choice as well.”

The announcement provides clarity and confidence for schools, parents, and stakeholders in Thailand that COBIS standards are aligned with the Ministry’s policy on educational quality. It also reinforces COBIS’s global role as a trusted partner in promoting excellence in British international education.

COBIS looks forward to working closely with international schools in Thailand, the Ministry of Education, and wider stakeholders to support high standards and positive outcomes for students.
