School Membership Categories
There are a number of routes to COBIS membership available, each based on robust quality assurance.
Our recommended route is through COBIS Accreditation and Compliance, which enables schools to evidence high-standards of practice against the COBIS Accreditation Standards. However, there are several more routes, detailed below.

Membership Categories
COBIS Provisional Schools
Provisional School status is open to schools who are in their planning phase and are scheduled to open their doors within the next one to two years.
COBIS Member (Compliance)
For schools interested in meeting COBIS Accreditation and Compliance Standards 1-5.
COBIS Accredited Member (COBIS)
For schools interested in meeting COBIS Accreditation and Compliance Standards 1-10.
COBIS Accredited Member (BSO)
If you have had a successful BSO inspection within the last 5 years, you can apply to become a COBIS Accredited Member (BSO). BSO inspection is the only accreditation recognised by the UK Government.
COBIS Accredited Member (CIS)
If you are a recognised CIS Accredited school, you can apply to become a COBIS Accredited Member (CIS).
COBIS Accredited Member (ISI)
If your school is based in the UK and has had a successful ISI inspection within the last 5 years, you can apply to become a COBIS Accredited Member (ISI).
COBIS Accredited Member (WASC)
We are delighted to recognise international accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) as an option for schools seeking to join COBIS.
COBIS Accredited Member (NEASC)
We are delighted to recognise international accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) as an option for schools seeking to join COBIS.
COBIS Accredited Member (OEAS)
If your online school has been accredited through the Department for Education's Online Education Accreditation Scheme (OEAS), you can apply to become a COBIS Accredited Member (OEAS).
Membership costs will vary depending on the route you choose and the size of your school.
