Both programmes are 6 months long and combine e-learning, reading, collecting evidence and writing assignments. Each contains 6 units, comprised of 5 mandatory units and 1 optional unit.

No formal qualifications are required. Teaching Assistants wishing to complete the course must be working in an international setting with opportunities to support teaching and learning on a regular basis.

The course fee is £650 per person from COBIS, FOBISIA and AISA member schools.

"We were delighted to be able to offer 3 of our TAs the chance to complete the DITA course this year. The 3 participants are thoroughly enjoying the learning and can regularly be found meeting with their teacher, Head of Year and Key Stage Coordinator for help, advice and to ask for chances to try out the things they have learned. They are also sharing their new knowledge and skills with our other TAs.

Their course mentor from the TA College, Anne Bradbury, sends me a monthly update on how they are progressing, which was an unexpected surprise. So far, Anne’s feedback has been excellent and it has been an absolute pleasure to be able to share this with colleagues in our staff meetings. In addition to keeping the three TAs involved motivated, this is also encouraging other TAs to want to complete the course.

Being able to offer the course to our TAs is just one small way of showing them how much we value their work. However, the benefits can be seen beyond the three studying; it has also helped inspire a large number of our TAs to take ownership of their own professional development and want to learn more.

We hope to be able to offer the course, and possibly the DILTA course, to more of our fantastic team of TAs again next year."
