Mission Possible: Online Programs

With schools and borders being closed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, WFUNA launched Youth Connect, a 9-week Global Citizenship Education online program for students aged 13-18, which helps them build the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to take on the world’s most pressing challenges and opportunities. Students are challenged to collaborate across cultures and prepared to succeed in a global arena, while taking care of the planet for future generations. The Program also enhances students’ profile for future academic and career opportunities.

Program Content:

• The United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals - learn about the UN's SDGs and choose one as a focus of a student led project.
• Global Citizenship and Youth Engagement - knowledge, values and attitudes to take action for the common good of people and the planet.
• Project Management - tools and techniques to initiate, lead and manage a project.

Program Structure:

• 8 online training sessions (90 mins per week).
• Individual learning - resources are shared for students to complete self-paced learning modules every week (up to 2 hours per week).
• Project work - Students collaborate on a project of their choice addressing an issue that matters to them. Projects can be entirely online to respect social distancing guidelines (up to 4 hours per week).
• Closing session - Students present their project to their peers and WFUNA staff. They receive a certificate of completion and recognition on social media.

Want to do something but unsure where to start or how to focus your energy? Interested in gaining tools and knowledge to plan meaningful action? Eager to kick-start this process with the support and feedback of other youth? This short-term online program is for students aged 13-18 who want to put their thoughts into action! It guides students to identify an issue that matters to them, connect it to the SDGs, and craft a personal action plan to get started.

Program Content:

Program Structure:

• 3 online training sessions over three days (6 hours in total).
• Research and reflection - Before each session, students complete research and reflection to identify and learn more about their topic of action (up to 2 hours before each session).
• Action Plan - Students develop a personal action plan to be ready to take meaningful action after
  the program. They receive and exchange feedback from peers and program trainers (up to 3 hours).
• Certificate - Students who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion.
