We are excited to bring our Member Schools the first COBIS U16 Debate Competition in March 2020, for students in Years 7-10. This competition is in addition to the COBIS Student World Debate Competition for students in Years 11-13. 

The COBIS U16 Debate Competition brings young COBIS student debaters together for an exciting three day event. The programme includes two days of debate competitions, a cultural excursion around Bucharest, plus plenty of opportunities for COBIS student networking.

Competition Details 
The COBIS U16 Debate Competition 2020 aims to give students a great first experience of international debating. Students will compete both in their school team and in mixed debate teams, giving them the opportunity to work alongside and get to know fellow COBIS students from around the world.  

For the School Team Debates, overall team points gained are added to the school team tally. For the Mixed Team Debates, individual debater points gained are added to each debater's school team tally.

Dates and Location
The COBIS Student World Debate Competition will take place between 18-21 March 2020 in Bucharest, Romania. The competition will be hosted by the International British School of Bucharest. 

Event Programme
The programme will include two days of heated debates on  Friday and Saturday, plus a cultural excursion day on Thursday.

  • Registration fee: £295 per school 
  • Participant fee: €395 per person
