The Friday saw all teams debate four motions, allowing students to display their excellent preparation and research, as well their problem-solving and creative thinking skills. The showcase debate closed the events for Friday, with the motion "This house believes that beauty is only skin deep". The motion was contested in good spirits, with the audience voting the proposition as the winning team.
COBIS would like to thank the staff and students at Jumeirah College for hosting this event and all participating students and staff for their hard work and enthusiasm throughout.
COBIS Medical Review Conference Students from eight schools across Qatar impressed a team of independent medical experts with their detailed research during the fifth Medical Review School Conference hosted by Doha College.
Students researched topics from five areas of medicine: epidemiology of infectious diseases; pharmacological developments; radiological, pathological and diagnostic updates; feto-maternal medicine; hereditary and metabolic diseases; and cancer.
The coveted first place was awarded to students who presented on the topic of Wilson's disease. The team wanted to highlight that a lack of subsidiary 'workers' in the human body can be just as impactful to the system as principal 'workers'. This was presented by Harun Gunes, Natália Wazny and Tiago Huber from Doha College.
The independent judges who presided over the final of the conference were impressed by the presentations and found awarding places to be challenging due to the high calibre of work presented.
COBIS Poetry Competition COBIS is delighted that so many schools took part in this year's COBIS Poetry Competition on the theme of "Through A Looking Glass". The 370+ entries are currently being marked by COBIS judges and we will announce the winning entries in April.
