Student competitions are a fantastic way to get your pupils involved in the COBIS community. To see a full range of the competitions we offer, please click here or read on for more information on three of the competitions we are running this academic year.

1. The Primary Creative Challenge is an experiential film-making activity for KS1 and KS2 pupils that involves making food or drink to celebrate your schools location.
2. The Senior School Music Festival is open to KS3, KS4 and KS5 pupils. It will be hosted by Prague British School on 6 and 7 June 2015. You can register your interest for this now – email pa@cobis.org.uk.
3. COBIS Young Scientist Film Awards – this popular competition is back for another year. Submissions must be made before 6 April 2015 so plan this into your spring term activities now.

Primary Creative Challenge – deadline next month!

This year's Creative Challenge focuses on food. We want your KS1 or KS2 pupils to star in a short film of them making a tasty traditional dish, snack or drink from the region in which your school is based. Prizes include a free subscription to Oddizzi.com and some of the latest Lonely Planet Kids books. Winning entries will be showcased at the 2015 COBIS Annual Conference, 9-11 May 2015.

Inaugural COBIS Senior School Music Festival 

The COBIS Senior School Music Festival is open to all COBIS schools, with pupils competing in a range of categories under two age groups - KS3 and KS4/5.

Categories include:

• Woodwind solo
• Brass solo
• String solo
• Piano solo
• Vocal solo 
• Piano duets
• Vocal ensembles (up to four pupils)
• Instrumental ensembles (up to four pupils)

The programme for the weekend includes a boat cruise, a guided tour of Prague and a concert and awards ceremony at the Czech Museum of Music.

The Music Festival will take place in Prague on 6 and 7 June 2015. To register your interest, email pa@cobis.org.uk.

COBIS Young Scientist Film Awards

COBIS has partnered with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in London again to create a film competition to celebrate the diversity and excitement of science. NPL has a 113 year history in world class science and is based less than a mile from COBIS Head Office!

Students from COBIS schools are invited to: 

• Create short films describing or demonstrating science correctly in an engaging way
• COBIS schools are invited to enter up to a maximum of 3 films
• Films must be less than 2 minutes and 30 seconds!
• With schools permission, films will be posted on a dedicated COBIS YouTube website
• Submissions must be made before Monday 6 April 2015.
