Record Numbers of NQTs Registered for Induction at COBIS Schools
Posted 19/09/2014 10:51AM
COBIS is delighted to announce that 28 Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) from COBIS Schools successfully completed their induction year in COBIS Schools overseas in 2013/14, with two more due to complete at the end of this term. NQTs were based in schools in Romania, Nepal, China, Japan, Kuwait, UAE, Czech Republic, Greece, Switzerland, Qatar, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands.

More than 30 NQTs are registered to complete their induction in COBIS Schools in 2014/15, the highest number yet. Schools in Slovenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Spain, UAE, Mongolia, Brazil, Romania, The Netherlands and the Czech Republic will welcome NQTs, with several schools offering induction for the first time.

COBIS CEO Colin Bell said of these record numbers, "We are pleased to see more and more Accredited COBIS schools taking advantage of this fantastic opportunity for recruiting, training and developing high-quality, qualified staff. Congratulations to those teachers who have successfully completed their induction year, and we wish the 2014/15 NQTs every success with their new international placements".

COBIS Accredited Member schools delivered NQT induction for the first time in the 2012/13 academic year following successful lobbying led by COBIS. Schools must successfully complete a British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection in order to host NQTs in their induction year. COBIS works with the Independent Schools Teacher Induction Panel (IStip) to offer NQT induction and COBIS would like to thank the team at IStip for their support with this record number of applications.
