The conference, hosted by the International British School of Bucharest (IBSB), ran over four days, beginning on Thursday 3 March with a morning tour of Bucharest and ending in the evening with the Opening Ceremony and Diplomatic Dinner. Key speakers included HRH Princess Marie, the British Ambassador to Romania, Mr Paul Brummell, and the United Nations Representative to Romania and Head of UNICEF Romania, Ms Sandie Blanchet, along with COBIS CEO Colin Bell and Head of IBSB, Kendall Peet.

The theme for this year's conference was 'Building Global Citizenship for Sustainable Development'. Committees at the conference included the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the Human Rights Council (HRC).

Best Delegate Awards went to:

  • Damla Ozdemir (THE BRITISH SCHOOL OF AL KHUBAIRAT) UNSC
  • Dora O'Neill (THE BRITISH SCHOOL OF AL KHUBAIRAT) ECOSOC
  • Azaad Hakeem (THE BRITISH SCHOOL OF AL KHUBAIRAT) HRC
  • Daniel Horne (THE BRITISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF STAVANGER) UNHCR

Congratulations to all who took part, as the level of both preparation and debate was reported to be outstanding.

The team at COBIS Head Office in Russell Square, London, would like to take this opportunity to thank the International British School of Bucharest for preparing and hosting such a successful event, establishing the model and standard for future COBIS MUNs. All schools present were effusive in their praise, stating that this was without a doubt the best MUN they have ever attended - well done IBSB!

The host school for the next COBIS MUN 2017 will be announced at the COBIS Annual Conference in London, 7-9 May 2016.
