Virtual Debate Competition
Congratulations to Kellett School, Hong Kong for winning this year's Virtual Debate Competition!
Together with Debate Mate, we invited students in Years 11-13 to take part in our Virtual Debate Competition.
The Virtual Debate Competition took place on 1-3 December 2023. It was open to all COBIS schools, including Applicant schools.
Over three days, students had the opportunity to showcase their debating skills and compete against their international peers through live debates on Zoom. Students received high quality and extensive feedback from expert judges after each debate, allowing them to improve and practise their skills.
Preparing for and engaging in logical and stimulating debate is an excellent way for students to cultivate skills such as critical thinking, communication, teamwork and the ability to respect opinions that differ from their own; an aptitude that is ever-important in a changing world. Participating in this competition was an excellent opportunity for students to exercise these skills and develop them further.

How to register
Registration has now closed.
Each school can enter up to two teams. Teams can include up to 6 students, however only 4 students per team will be able to take part in each debate.
The competition will take place on 1-3 December 2023. There will be two timeslots to choose from: Red League: 08.00-13.00 or Blue League: 14.00-19.00 GMT. The finals (both leagues) will take place on Sunday 3 December, 08.00-13.30 GMT. There are limited places available for the ‘morning’ Red League timeslot; these will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
