The British International School and Montessori Education Freetown was formerly known as International Montessori School Freetown. The school was established on the 21st of September 2009 as Brilliant Butterflies Montessori School by its Founder and Owner Mrs. Jenny Condron. In 2010 the school was accredited by the Ministry of Education Sierra Leone. As a Montessori school we strictly adhere to the Maria Montessori's approach and philosophy. The school uses a wide range of didatic materials to support children's learning and development. In 2012 the school became accredited as a Cambridge International school by of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). We have since then adopted the Cambridge Primary school Curriculum to facilitate our primary school section. The primary school section still combines the Montesori approach and materials to support the Cambridge primary curriculum. The British International School and Montessori Education caters for a diverse community of pupils spanning the six continents making it a truly International school. Our programmes support children aged 14 months to 12 years.
