Stay connected... The 35th COBIS Annual Conference - Authentic Leadership: Inspirational Stories for Learning in British Schools Overseas - took place at InterContinental London - The O2, from 7-9 May 2016. The conference was our largest ever with more than 600 delegates, exhibitors, speakers and guests attending over the course of three days. Representatives from over 150 schools in more than 60 countries took part in a range of plenary sessions, seminars and social activities which enabled extensive networking opportunities. The Conference, which was opened by CEO Colin Bell, started with an awe-inspiring talk from mountaineer, author and public speaker Joe Simpson who reminded delegates and exhibitors of the importance and value of perseverance. The Conference also featured keynotes from Professor Deborah Eyre, Curtis Jobling, Neil Strowger and Richard Addis as well as sessions which capitalised on the vast expertise in the global COBIS network. COBIS CREATE, the session where members gave short presentations about innovative practice in their schools, was particularly successful. As a consultative organisation, COBIS Chairman Trevor Rowell, fed back the ideas which arose during the inaugural COBIS Conversation sessions. Delegates also enjoyed several social activities and networking receptions, including the opening dinner which for the first time was held at The National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. The Conference also hosted the COBIS Young Scientist Film Awards where the worthy student winners of this year's awards were announced by Andrew Hanson from the National Physical Laboratory, alongside COBIS Honorary President, Sir Roger Fry. Throughout the Conference, three eager students from Halcyon London International School were catching all the events on camera as part of the COBIS on Camera film project. COBIS is grateful to Eye for Business who worked with our students, providing them with what looked like a very fun crash-course in professional filming and editing. COBIS would like to thank everyone who took part in this year's Annual Conference. Special thanks must go to Dawn Akyürek for her help in putting together an inspiring programme and of course to the COBIS Head Office Team who worked hard to deliver the conference.
The story doesn't end here..... so we look forward to seeing our members at next year's COBIS Annual Conference which will be held in London from 6-8 May, 2017. Conference Programme and Presentations
