Can more than one school in a group join and what are the costs attached to that?

The cost for an individual school or a group of schools to apply for membership is £295.00.

How do I know which category to apply for?

Schools which are not yet open or have recently opened should apply for COBIS Candidate School membership. Schools which have undergone a BSO inspection should apply for COBIS Accredited Membership. All other schools should apply for COBIS Member status. Please find all the information regarding criteria for each category under 'School Membership Classifications'.

What happens if my application is not accepted?

We will contact you after the membership committee meeting. If your application has not been successful, we will give your school feedback and advise if any further information needs to be submitted. If all documentation is received in time we would reconsider the application at the next meeting. You will only have to pay the £295.00 membership application fee once.

How often are the membership applications considered?

The membership committee meets three times a year in January, May and September. We ask for applications to be supplied at least two weeks in advance of the meeting to allow for checking.

My school has only just opened, can I join COBIS still?

Schools can join as a Candidate School for up to one year before opening, and within two years after the school opens. After that it will be necessary to satisfy the criteria for COBIS Member status.
