COBIS Student Poetry Competition - 2012
The global COBIS Student Poetry Competition – 2012 is now open! The judging panel looks forward to reading poems submitted from students in full-time education at COBIS schools worldwide.
Focus and Theme
This year’s competition is to ‘bring an animal alive’ through poetry
For example poems could feature:
- · a favourite pet,
- · a frightening beast from ocean or jungle –
- · a familiar domestic friend
- or something rare and strange...
Length of Poems
Entries should be no longer than 40 lines.
Categories
Entries will be considered in three categories, based on the age of the student on 1 January 2012.
Category A: 10 yrs and under
Category B: 11-14 yrs
Category C: 15-19 yrs
The Judging Panel
All entries will be reviewed by a panel comprising of educators, children’s authors and International publishers.
Competition Closing Date - All entries must be received no later than Friday 6 April, 2012.

Each entry should be submitted as a pdf or word document and should include:
- the student’s full name
- the student’s nationality
- the student’s date of birth and indicate category A, B or C
- the name of the school and name and email address of the member of staff submitting the poem
Each school may submit a maximum of three entries per category. Please note all entries must be in English and are required to be original compositions and entirely the work of the individual student.
Competition Prizes
Prizes and certificates are available for winners and runners up in each category.
